Sheila Porter is a Mi¹kmaq artisan for quill jewelry.Originally from "the valley" she lives in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, adding her talent to the many artists who call this part of the world home. Designing, both, traditional and contemporary Mi¹kmaq jewelry she carefully chooses the materials: only handpicked semi-precious stones such as garnet, hematite, amethyst, obisdian and crystals are used to give the silver jewelry colour. High quality materials in its natural state like the famous porkupine quills, antler bones and leather add extra value to the finished product. Sheila takes pride in her work and her skills show in her outstanding jewelry design. |
